*** 1/2
I saw Warm Bodies this week and I have to say it was better than expected. Being single, I preferred it to the usual Valentines romantic movies that we have seen year after year. Yes, Warm Bodies is about a young romance; but the zombies, creepy skeletons and John Malkovich make this l very different from the usual rom coms! The film revolves around R, a zombie who appears to have a lot of feelings, and Julie, a human who he keeps safe after saving her from an attack. Nicholas Hoult who plays R, is brilliant as the love struck zombie and Teresa Palmer -Julie- reminds me of a happier Kirsten Stewart. Analeigh Tipton (Crazy Stupid Love) also gives a hilarious performance as Julie's friend, Nora. The real star of the movie however, is the soundtrack: M83, Guns N' Roses and Bruce Springsteen to name a few play during the film and really set the tone. Overall the film has enough laughs to be a comedy but the ending also has an important message about life and not forgetting to appreciate it.
Highlight: The Soundtrack
Lowlight: Dave Franco is in it for less than ten minutes, I would have appreciated seeing more of his beautiful face...
